Hazardous Substances & Conflict Material Control Procedure

hazardous substances

This procedure describes the control on the usage of Environmental Hazardous Substances and Conflict Materials (HSCM) and to eliminate the usage of banned substances and conflict materials in any product and/or service provided by ProMicom.

ProMicom shall not purchase and/or use, as far as is practicable, any HSCM in the provision of products and/or services to its clients. We will communicate the HSCM requirements to all our suppliers and where practicable work with those who complies and able to supply compliant materials and products. We will check/request with our suppliers if their materials, parts, components, etc. contain any of the restricted substances or if they are in compliance to RoHS (Restrictions on Use of Certain Hazardous Substances) requirements i.e. Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls, Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers flame retardants.

Where necessary (if requested by customer, criticality/type of product supplied), ProMicom wil request suppliers to provide a declaration which could be in any of the formats as stated below:

  • Safety Data Sheet (SDS) – this shall be updated if product is obtained from a different source (either by the supplier or by ProMicom)
  • Inductive Coupled Plasma (ICP) data
  • Material declaration
  • Certificate of compliance
  • Self-declaration

If the supplier is unable to confirm the content of hazardous substances in their material, our Technical team will carry out the investigation and provide necessary support. If a hazardous substance is found in the material/product supplied, then it will be reported for further action.
